Raising the Cuteness Factor of a Onsie ~ Ballerina Style.....

I'm so thankful for my ♥ friends ♥ that are having babies or attending baby showers! They give me excuses to make ♥sweet♥ little baby things that I otherwise would not have any use for anymore. Because MY babies aren't babies anymore. They keep getting bigger. Despite my protests. Boo.

I made this ♥sweet♥ little ballerina onesie several weeks ago, but didn't get a chance to deliver it or visit the new arrival until this past weekend. I think I'm in love......with the baby, that is. Although I do think the onesie is adorable! I'm hereby offering my services as little Miss Olivia's official babysitter, and can't wait until she gets big enough so that I can see her in this:

My only regret: that I didn't take better pics of it.....so much cuter in person!

The Problem With Being A Friend Of Mine.....

......or, being the child of a friend of mine, or being related to me....is that gift-giving occasions often become my motivation for trying out some great idea I've had that I've not found time to create, or finally try a pattern that I bought and never got around to! ; )

Such was the case this week. A very ♥sweet♥ girl who loves all things American Girl had a birthday party last week, and long ago I had purchased several patterns in order to make my daughter some clothes for her doll. I never got around to it, and now my ♥sweet♥ girl has passed that stage (sniff, sniff), but was all for my making her friend some things.

I made a super cute dress out of blue satin, which matched her lovely eyes:

I added the brown ribbon trim and belt, since blue and brown is all the rage with the girls right now:

The pattern called for three snap closures down the back, but at my daughter's suggestion, I used Velcro instead. I figured her opinion is good as gold, since although she's so grown up now, she DOES has experience with these types of things.

I also made a ♥sweet♥ little PJ set for her:

My rewards for my efforts were smiles from ear to ear, hugs and lots of thanks from the birthday girl. My own daughter gushed over them, especially the dress. "If I had gotten this for my doll, I would love it! Hint, hint", she said. She informed me that although the only time she gets her American Girl Dolls out is when she's with this particular friend, she's going to keep them forever and might want to change their clothes. : )

I think I may have found my solution to missing making my little girl cute & adorable outfits....I'll just make doll clothes!

A Little Bit of Baby Love.....

I was blessed to attend the absolute ♥sweetest♥ shower I think I have ever been to this past weekend, so guess what I was busy making last week?

After having 3 boys, God has surprised her with a ♥sweet♥ baby girl, although she says she won't believe it until she can see it for herself. ; ) She is such a wonderful Mom and I'm so excited she's going to have a little princess to help even out the numbers in her home. : )

I had so much fun making her a little rag quilt Lovey (security blanket) in coordinating colors with the beautiful bedding that was made for her......

The center square and back of the blanket is made of super soft and cuddly Minky fabric and the phrase "All of God's Grace In One Little Face is embroidered with a coordinating flower in the center square.

I attached this little poem.....

....and also made her two matching burp cloths.....because they're just too cute and fun to make ~ I couldn't resist!

All together, they make a very ♥sweet♥ gift set, don't ya think? It's now available in my Etsy shop!

Things That Kept Me Busy in 12/2010.....Part 2 ~ Pretty, Pretty Purses : )

I'm still recovering from the crafty madness of December......a couple more things that kept me away from blogging:

A request for a purse I nearly gave up on........in black, yellow and gray fabric. I thought "No problem ~ easy peasy!" when the request came in. Why is it that when you're not looking for something specific, you see it everywhere......and then when you need it, it's nowhere to be found?! It seriously took me weeks to find just the right print in this color combination, but just in the nick of time, voila! I found this Michael Miller fabric online (from the Eclipse collection) that has apparently been discontinued ~ another one of those 'Why?' moments because I seriously love this fabric & would like to have more! I bought a little extra than I needed, but am not happy that more will not be available. : (

And this is the purse that was made from it:

I also got a several more orders for Gator purses ~ didn't take pics of all of them, but here's a couple...... One with a different polka dot print for the contrast.....

.......and one with the usual print I use.....

Last ~ but not least, I received an order for a Jaguar purse {it was nice to get to use a different team print ~ I'm starting to see Gator fabric in my dreams.....and being a Georgia fan, I'm starting to feel a little guilty ; ) } !
