My Doll and I.....We Match So Well!!

Happy Crafty Tuesday! =) 

I'm almost finished making the most ♥adorable♥ matching pj's for a ♥sweet♥ little girl and her American Girl doll.  Almost finished, because I thought I had the fasteners I needed for the back closure......but they are nowhere to be found and I can't imagine what I did with them.  Maybe it wasn't me that misplaced them......perhaps it was that person known as "Not Me" ~ the same one who leaves his/her books scattered all over my sewing desk, the same one who leaves cups all over the house, the same one who leaves the wet towels on the floor.  ; )

Anyway......I'll go ahead and post pics ~ because it's too cute not to ~ and, I have about 4 or 5 different projects started and not yet completed and this is the only one blog worthy at the moment. =)


I made them matching, but not identical......because every girl has to have her own style (and I thought the girl's pjs looked cuter with the three hearts)! ; )

I can't get the next two pics to post right side up....and don't know why. They're right side up on my computer, but turn sideways when I post on here. ?????

 Some days are just exhausting and it's easier to face the world while lying down......I completely understand that, so I'll give up leave them alone and let them rest.

Now I'm off to WalMart (ew!!).  I don't even like WalMart.  It annoys me.....but I find sometimes it's just a necessary evil.  Where else can I go and get a list full of very random items all in one place when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to run around town all afternoon?  Things like dog food, rabbit food, cat litter, socks, milk, cereal, paint, paint brushes, mineral spirits, tape, binder, and printer paper.  Oh, and thread.....and  I hope they have the hook-and eye-fasteners I need to finish these pjs.

Random.  I think it describes me well these days.  Or my thoughts, anyway!!

I'm going to add chocolate to my list.  They have that at WalMart, too.  I've got some late nights coming my way and may need something to get me through.  Chocolate.  It helps!!

I'm so thankful for my ♥ friends ♥ that are having babies or attending baby showers!  They give me excuses to make ♥sweet♥ little baby things that I otherwise would not have any use for anymore.  Because MY babies aren't babies anymore.  They keep getting bigger.  Despite my protests.  Boo.

I made this ♥sweet♥ little ballerina onesie several weeks ago, but didn't get a chance to deliver it or visit the new arrival until this past weekend.  I think I'm in love......with the baby, that is.  Although I do think the onesie is adorable!  I'm hereby offering my services as little Miss Olivia's official babysitter, and can't wait until she gets big enough so that I can see her in this:

My only regret:  that I didn't take better pics of it.....so much cuter in person!

15.  God Can't Forget What I Have Done

I imagine Satan likes this one particularly well considering it is pure blasphemy of the Truth that is revealed at Calvary.  How many hurting hearts and bleeding souls remain hurting, bleeding, lost and searching due to this lie?

No matter what you have done, no matter whether or not you feel that you deserve forgiveness, is is there for the taking....at the Cross.  There is one ~ and only one ~ solution to the guilt of our sins.

A  beautiful description of Jesus and what He did for us on the cross is found in Psalm 85:10:

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other."

At Calvary, Jesus paid the price for all the sin of the world.  For you.  For me.  For the one on death row, the one on the street, the prostitute, the thief, the drug addict, the alcoholic........every single one.  Nothing is to big for God to forgive.  The Cross shows the incredible cost He paid to redeem us from our huge, ugly, grotesque, unimaginable sins.....as well as our "weaknesses", our "little" sins that we trivialize in our minds.  The Cross also displays the love and mercy of God for even the "chief of sinners".

I love music, and love the old hymns.....many are so deeply embedded in my memory that they will unexpectedly pop into my mind, usually just when the words of encouragement and Truth within them are needed most.  I especially love hearing the stories of the hymn writers and what inspired their penning of those hymns.  One hymn writer's  story was provided in the book.....

"William Cowper was one of the finest English writers of the nineteenth century.  But he carried significant emotional baggage and turmoil into his adult years.  As a young man, he experienced a mental breakdown, attempted suicide, and was placed in an insane asylum for eighteen months.  It was during this confinement that he read a verse of Scripture that changed his life.  He discovered that Jesus Christ is "set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God" (Romans 3:25 KJV).

Once he saw the Truth and embraced it, Cowper entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was granted the knowledge that his sins had been forgiven.  Years later, he expressed the wonder of that forgiveness in a hymn that has brought hope to repentant sinners for more than two hundred years."  ~ Lies Women Believe.....

The Problem With Being A Friend Of Mine.....

......or, being the child of a friend of mine, or being related to me....is that gift-giving occasions often become my motivation for trying out some great idea I've had that I've not found time to create, or finally try a pattern that I bought and never got around to! ; )

Such was the case this week.  A very ♥sweet♥ girl who loves all things American Girl had a birthday party last week, and long ago I had purchased several patterns in order to make my daughter some clothes for her doll.  I never got around to it, and now my ♥sweet♥ girl has passed that stage (sniff, sniff), but was all for my making her friend some things.

I made a super cute dress out of blue satin, which matched her lovely eyes:

I added the brown ribbon trim and belt, since blue and brown is all the rage with the girls right now:

The pattern called for three snap closures down the back, but at my daughter's suggestion, I used Velcro instead.  I figured her opinion is good as gold, since although she's so grown up now, she DOES has experience with these types of things. 

I also made a ♥sweet♥ little PJ set for her:

My rewards for my efforts were smiles from ear to ear, hugs and lots of thanks from the birthday girl.  My own daughter gushed over them, especially the dress.  "If I had gotten this for my doll, I would love it!  Hint, hint", she said.  She informed me that although the only time she gets her American Girl Dolls out is when she's with this particular friend, she's going to keep them forever and might want to change their clothes.  : )

I think I may have found my solution to missing making my little girl cute & adorable outfits....I'll just make doll clothes!
